What We Do

Empowering health. Uplifting families. Transforming futures.

At OLPS, we deliver integrated HEALTH and SOCIAL services that respond to the urgent and long-term needs of individuals, families, and communities affected by HIV, poverty, and systemic inequalities. Our work is rooted in compassion, guided by dignity, and driven by impact.

The OLPS HEART Model

The HEART Model is OLPS’s signature framework for delivering holistic, integrated, and impactful services to individuals, families, and communities. Built on over three decades of experience, it ensures that our interventions are effective, sustainable, and community-led.

Each letter in HEART represents a pillar that shapes how we work:

General Health & Comprehensive HIV Services

OLPS provides inclusive, person-centered health services that improve the wellbeing of individuals and families affected by HIV, poverty, and systemic barriers to care. Through our inpatient and outpatient facilities, we offer HIV testing, treatment, adherence support, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services, maternal and child health care and Community TB Prevention and Control. These services are supported by a strong network of community health volunteers who extend care to the last mile. Guided by our model, we place health at the center of community development, empower clients and caregivers with knowledge, promote access and equity, build continuity and resilience, and ultimately transform lives through quality care.

Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Care

OLPS stands alongside children who have lost parents or face extreme vulnerability due to HIV, poverty, or neglect. Through education support, psychosocial care, nutrition, and protection, we help create safe, nurturing environments where every child can thrive. We work closely with caregivers to strengthen families, safeguard rights, and build resilience. Supported by community volunteers, our holistic approach places child wellbeing at the heart of community development, empowers families with knowledge and parenting skills, promotes access and equity, and ultimately opens pathways to a hope-filled, transformed future. We also advocate for policies that protect vulnerable children and amplify their voices. Together, we aim to build communities where every child has the opportunity to flourish.

Family & Livelihood Strengthening

Families are at the heart of resilient communities. OLPS supports vulnerable households through parenting skills training, economic empowerment, and food security initiatives. We strengthen caregivers with financial literacy, promote savings through community-based savings groups, and support small-scale agriculture to ensure families can provide for their children. In line with our model, we improve family health and nutrition, equip caregivers with tools for growth, promote dignity and equity, build financial resilience, and help families create lasting change in their lives.

Safe Spaces & Inclusive Learning

OLPS offers safe refuge and inclusive education to children facing abuse, neglect, or learning challenges. Our Children’s Rescue Center provides shelter, psychosocial support, and reintegration services for rescued children, while the OLPS School offers a flexible, child-friendly learning environment for those who struggle in mainstream settings. Through our model, we prioritize each child’s health and healing, empower them through individualized education, advocate for their protection and inclusion, nurture their emotional resilience, and unlock their full potential through love and care.

Youth Empowerment

OLPS walks with young people to build confidence, independence, and purpose. Through life skills training, sexual and reproductive health education, mentorship, and school support, we help youth navigate the complex challenges of HIV, early pregnancy, and gender-based violence. By doing this, we empower the next generation for community prosperity. Our model shapes this work by promoting health education, empowering youth through skills and opportunity, giving them a voice on critical issues, strengthening support systems, and creating transformative systems.
